Janet Crossley

Prevent Lead and Safeguarding Trainer janet@schoolssafeguarding.com 07761510227

My name is Janet Crossley and I joined Schools Safeguarding in September 2019. My early career was involved with fraud investigation before going into education over 20 years ago. My first role in education was as Head of Administration in a Further Education College, before making the move into teaching. I qualified as a teacher and began teaching in the college. I worked with a wide age range of students teaching information technology to 14-19 students in college and mature students in commercial settings and higher education. In 2008, I took up the role of Head of Student Services which included safeguarding. I knew from that point that safeguarding was the way I wanted my career to progress and having developed that role became Head of Safeguarding and Prevent. I have worked at both operational and strategic levels representing Further Education in Lancashire as a member of the Lancashire Safeguarding Partnership Board. In recent years I took the opportunity of a secondment to the Local Authority working in a Home Office funded post to support schools understanding and implementing the Prevent Duty. That opportunity gave me greater understanding of the extremism and radicalisation agenda and how individuals are drawn into terrorism. I am passionate about sharing this information with schools to support staff in understanding the requirements of the legislation.  When I am not working I love spending time with my family and friends, going on holidays, and I even manage to fit in the odd yoga class.
Katherine Mattock

Business Support Assistant and General Enquiries. admin@schoolssafeguarding.com 07761510229

My name is Katherine Mattock and I am the Business Support Assistant for Schools Safeguarding. This means that I run all the admin in the office; everything from taking bookings to issuing invoices and everything in between. I’m the first port of call for any enquiries or queries and love assisting school staff with their requests. I love to be organised which stands me in good stead for this role as each day brings something different. I help keep the rest of the team organised and make sure they have everything they need to provide the excellent training and support to all of you.  Outside of work I am mum to three children which doesn’t really leave me with much time for anything else, in fact I enjoy coming to work for a rest! If I do get any time I enjoy sewing and crochet or losing myself in a good book.
