PREVENT LEAD TRAINING

KCSIE states: ‘DSLs (and deputies) and other senior leaders in schools should familiarise themselves with the revised Prevent duty guidance: for England and Wales.

The prevent duty: for schools and childcare providers states: ‘…schools and childcare providers are expected to assess the risk of children being drawn into terrorism, including support for extremist ideas that are part of terrorist ideology.’

‘Individual schools are best placed to assess their training needs in the light of their assessment of the risk. As a minimum, however, schools should ensure that the Designated Safeguarding Lead undertakes Prevent awareness training.’

This training is designed for new and existing DSLs who have lead responsibility for Prevent. It would also be beneficial for Governors with responsibility for safeguarding and Prevent. The training will cover:

CURRENT NATIONAL AND LOCAL RISKS

RISK ASSESSMENT & ACTION PLANNING TO MANAGE RISKS

PREVENT AND FUNDAMENTAL BRITISH VALUES IN THE CURRICULUM

Delegates will receive resources and certification upon completion of this full day course. This training is being delivered both face to face and remotely throughout the year. Please see attached calendar. This training is also available to be delivered to clusters, SIGs and MATs upon request.
